ChefsFridge is a transformative innovation combining the concepts of recipe-driven food markets, an access controlled locker, and technology-based social interaction for consumers and food providers. It is a multicompartment, stand-alone, temperature-controlled kiosk where food is organized or prepared by farmers and chefs and sold to consumers through an app on their phone. This seamless transaction opens the door for food industry innovators to transform how they grow, prepare and present food to future consumers.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, 78% of grocery store shoppers have changed the way they purchase food including a 28% increase in online shopping, and a 46% shift in where they shop for food. This restructuring of the marketplace provides immense opportunity for disruptive, novel food market technology for consumers expressing new values which include eating with family (87%), cooking more meals at home (41%), and minimizing grocery trips (42%).

For food producers who want to reach consumers directly, each kiosk compartment has a temperature control feature with innovative thermal ‘banks,’ storing 5-7 times the energy of current vending machines and holds freezing temperatures for significantly longer periods of time.
The on-board technology controls the temperature within each compartment( > 2oF) and responds to temperature fluctuations due to food loads and door openings. ChefsFridge will design and build transformative facades, sustainable indoor/outdoor operation models, and offer scalability (16 compartments per kiosk with daisy chain build-outs) to embrace the latest energy efficient technology trends with our manufacturing partners. Our kiosks will ultimately be user-friendly, green, efficient, and approachable, both for the food providers and consumers.
Evolving consumer food decisions are broadening in scope: consumers are applying new food values such as transparency, health and wellness, and social impact, all of which influence what food they buy and where. Pandemic consumer behavior supports these findings, with the latest surveys showing healthier eating behaviors (36%) and minimization of perishable food waste (44%).
